The GEN3 Evo boasts key technical enhancements and over 90% efficiency in a stronger more aerodynamic racer that redefines electric motorsport performance.
The GEN3 Evo represents the latest evolution in Formula E racing technology and is also the quickest accelerating FIA single-seater race car, capable of 0-100kph in 1.86s, 36% faster than the GEN3 predecessor. It features advancements in aerodynamics, power efficiency, and battery management, making the cars faster and more sustainable. This model builds on the GEN3 platform with enhancements that improve overall performance and competitiveness on the track.
Regenerative braking is essentially the opposite of normal energy distribution where the energy stored in the battery powers a vehicle’s motor, which in turn rotates the wheels. In regenerative braking, when the brakes are applied, further power is generated which spins the motor in reverse, forcing the current to flow back into the battery, thus regenerating used energy. In numbers, the GEN3 Evo race cars optimize a 600kw regenerative braking capacity, generating almost 50% of the energy needed for a race, during the race itself.
A Formula E GEN3 Evo car has approximately 470 horsepower, generated by its 350 kW electric motor. This power allows the car to reach top speeds of around 200mph (321 kph), making it the fastest accelerating and most efficient Formula car in the world.
The all-wheel drive (AWD) system marks a first for a Formula E car. It is available during qualifying duels, race starts, and ATTACK MODE. This new feature maximizes acceleration and control, augmenting the thrill of critical race moments to make for more exciting racing for both drivers and fans.
In Season 11, all racers in the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship fit optimized all-weather Hankook iON racing tires, which provide 5-10% more grip, and are made from 35% recycled and sustainable materials (a 9% improvement compared to the GEN3 specifications).
