Vanaf 1989 ging de Biturbo Spyder er anders uitzien. De nieuwe wagen viel te herkennen aan zijn 15” grote aluminium velgen (tegenover de originele 14”-velgen) en zijn rondere voor- en achterbumper. De grotere motor in het exportmodel (2,5 l) werd vervangen door een nog grotere 2,8 liter. Het koetswerk werd nog steeds door Zagato vervaardigd nabij Milaan. Voor dit model liet Maserati de naam ‘Biturbo’ vallen, waardoor het ook algemeen bekend werd als de Spyder '90.
