Maserati GT2 Stradale and MCPura: Safety Car and Leading Car for the new season, with its opener at the Circuit Paul Ricard.
Modena, 10 April 2026 – Once again for the 2026 season, Maserati has been selected as the official supplier for the GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS. The collaboration with SRO Motorsports Group is renewed after last year's success, when the Trident car manufacturer made its debut as official supplier with its Safety Car and Leading Car.
Maserati will therefore continue to provide the official Safety Car and Leading Car for the entire championship, consolidating a strategic role that emphasises the brand’s deep bond with the world of closed-wheel racing.
For 2026, the Maserati GT2 Stradale – the road-legal version of the Trident’s competitive GT2 racing car – has again been chosen as the championship's official Safety Car.
The GT2 Stradale also played this role in 2025, marking itself out with the extraordinary power of the V6 Nettuno engine, providing acceleration to 100 km/h in just 2.8 seconds, with a top speed of 324 km/h.
The season's biggest news is the role as Leading Car, for which Maserati has selected the MCPura this year for its official debut as pacesetter.
Both support cars will sport dedicated new liveries developed specifically for the 2026 GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS, in Maserati’s iconic colours of blue and white.
The Lead Car's body colour is white with a large contrasting blue Trident on the bonnet, whereas the Safety Car's is in reverse: a blue base with white details.
To strengthen the brand's identity and its activities on the track, both liveries recall the visuals of the cars used in the Master Maserati – Driving Experience courses, Maserati's official driving programme for customers and enthusiasts to experience the thrill of the Trident's performance in a safe, professional context, regardless of their level of experience.
The continuing role as Official Supplier confirms SRO Motorsports Group’s appreciation for the Italian brand's commitment: in 2025, the agreement further strengthened relations between Maserati and SRO, a bond rooted in history and consolidated through iconic models such as the MC12 and the more recent Maserati GT2, which has brought the Trident car manufacturer back to the apex of closed-wheel racing
Vincent Biard, Head of Maserati Corse: “We’re extremely proud that Maserati Corse has been confirmed as the Official Supplier for the 2026 GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS. This position is the perfect embodiment of our DNA: from the road to the track and back, a natural journey that has always guided our idea of performance. The GT2 Stradale as Safety Car and the new MCPura as Leading Car represent the best of our technical vision: cutting-edge technologies, benchmark performance and a unique character, hallmarks also recognised in our participation in the GT2 European Series powered by Pirelli championship, renewed in 2026 with an even broader participation. We're looking forward to this season with ambition and determination: we remember our first 100 years of racing history and do so in the most authentic way, on the track with a competitive spirit, by lining up our Maserati GT2 and confirming our sign-up to the new SRO GT Academy project. We’re ready to experience a season full of great energy and competitiveness, bringing the Maserati spirit to the track all throughout.”
Stéphane Ratel, SRO Motorsports Group Founder & CEO: "We are very pleased that Maserati will continue as the Safety Car and Leading Car supplier for GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS this season. On the road and on the track, the brand is synonymous with speed, style and engineering excellence. The Maserati GT2 Stradale did a fantastic job as Safety Car last year and I look forward to seeing the MCPura make its first appearance as the Leading Car this weekend at Circuit Paul Ricard."
