Al Tayer Motors, the exclusive distributor for Maserati in UAE, held a special event for the launch of the first ever SUV by Maserati called the Levante.

This new beginning for the brand was originally unveiled in front of the world at the Geneva Motor Show. The Levante is named after a Mediterranean wind and the brand aims to set foot with this model in the largest luxury segment in the automotive industry.

“This is the first ever SUV by Maserati, so it is a complete game-changer, particularly for the UAE. Maserati is renowned for exotic sports cars, so our mission was not just to build an SUV, but to build a Maserati. Exciting times are ahead and we are glad to be able to offer Maserati aficionados a completely new experience. We expect the car to be in UAE showrooms from July onwards,” said Hossam Hosni, General Manager Luxury Auto at Al Tayer Motors.

Coming to the car itself, the Levante will be available in two variants i.e. Levante and Levante S. We can expect a GTS variant later. Both models are powered by the 3.0 V6 turbocharged engine found in the Ghibli. The base model produces 350 BHP and 500 Nm of torque while the S variant produces 430 BHP and 580 Nm of torque. The base and the S model accelerate from 0-100 in 6.0s and 5.2s respectively. Also, the top speed of base model is 251 km/h while the S achieves 264 km/h. Both engines are mated to a ZF 8-speed automatic transmission.

The Levante has 4 driving modes i.e. Normal, Sport, I.C.E and Off-road. In addition to the 50/50 weight distribution, the car includes Adaptive Cruise, Forward Collision Warning, Brake Assist, Lane departure and blind spot warning, 360 degree camera and all-new 8.4” touch screen infotainment. The car is expected to release in summer this year with starting price of AED 316,150 for the base model and AED 363,150 for the S variant.
