Geneva to Modena
Red Maserati GranTurismo riding on mountain road

Massimo Bottura raves about the 2018 GranTurismo driving experience

Signature dishes, signature sounds

Massimo is passionate about… everything. In the kitchen, he re-engineers traditional recipes he learned from his mother and grandmother to create unique, innovative dishes. His style is comparable to the way Maserati have been developing the GranTurismo for 70 years, making him an ideal GranTurismo guest driver. On the second leg of our journey, from Geneva to Modena, he talks animatedly about ingredients, flavour, how the sound of a Maserati makes him feel and recreates the GranTurismo as a new dish.

"The ingredients that I choose, the idea behind the dish, it’s all part of the experience: it’s exactly like driving a GranTurismo."

Massimo Bottura’s 3 Michelin star restaurant in Modena, Italy was ranked No. 1 in the world in 2016.

His avant-garde signature dishes include ‘Memory of a Mortadella Sandwich’, a deconstruction of a sandwich his mother made for him when he was a child, ‘Oops! I Dropped the Lemon Tart’, ‘An Eel Swimming Up the Po River’ and the ‘Five Ages of Parmigiano Reggiano’ in which the cheese is crackly, chewy, creamy, runny and foamy all at once.

There is a strong parallel between what Massimo does in his kitchen and what the Maserati team of designers and engineers do when they refine the original concept of GranTurismo.

A shared passion for using only the finest ingredients, a dedication to detail and meticulous craftsmanship and a belief in being true to the purity of an idea are the reasons why Massimo and Maserati have enjoyed their mutual relationship for so long.

A true GranTurismo needs a grand-scale engine – with continent-crossing capabilities. Which is where the 4.7-litre V8 comes in.It delivers smooth and commanding cruising power at all times and breath-taking acceleration on demand.

As for that throaty Maserati engine note, bypass valves in the sports exhaust system ensure it doesn’t go unnoticed – outside or inside the car.

“I would buy this car for its sound”

– Massimo Bottura

“Feel it, it’s about emotion.”

We hit the accelerator and talk great design, levels of craftsmanship and being passionate about minute details, over the powerful Maserati roar

Johnny Herbert is no stranger to pushing things to the limit. As he pushes the 2018 GranTurismo to the limit he talks about Grand Prix driving, being alive and the power to overcome seemingly impossible obstacles to achieve dreams.

For those who crave the thrilling road ahead and the boundless sky above. Maserati GranCabrio: enjoy a whole new perspective.

GranTurismo embodies the irresistible allure of true Italian style, combined with exhilarating, race-bred performance.
