The Quattroporte met a particular need for an exclusive group of discerning motorists. Europe’s emerging network of motorways opened up thrilling worlds of possibility when it came to long- distance travel. With this Maserati, they could all be embraced – at high speeds, in spacious comfort and in breathtaking Italian style.
The Maserati Quattroporte is part of a story that dates back over 100 years. It’s a story of endurance. Of embracing challenge. Of going the distance and winning. And doing it all in audacious Italian style.
Automotive luxury means something different with the Quattroporte. With this car, it’s a decidedly more focused and purposeful concept. It is, after all, a Maserati with a motor sport bloodline and a time-honoured grand touring heritage
The Quattroporte GranLusso trim is a celebration of this unique approach, foregrounding the luxurious style with specific exterior refinements.
There are some individuals, however, who demand even sharper sporting focus. The GranSport convincingly meets this demand – while remaining true to the essence of luxury grand touring.
GranLusso & GranSport
The Maserati motor sport heritage can be seen, felt and heard with the Quattroporte.
The exterior refinements include a discreet front spoiler, chrome bumper inserts, body-coloured side skirts and the GranLusso designation at the bases of the front wings.
There are also elegant 20" Mercurio light alloy wheels complete with visible brake calipers painted in black.
A large central front intake and side intakes have more sculpted angles, while the lower section is linked to the grille by aerodynamic splitters. A centre spoiler and side inserts are finished in striking Piano Black.
The dynamically stretched side profile, with its subtle yet telling GranSport badging, is made yet more impactful by sweeping side skirts and large 21" Titano alloy wheels with red brake calipers.
The GranLusso interior
Just like Zegna’s impeccable clothing, the car carries a personalised Ermenegildo Zegna label stitched onto the sun visors to distinguish a work of masterful quality and exclusivity – and act as a reminder that, within the automotive industry, bespoke silk interiors are unique to Maserati.
Other GranLusso cabin refinements include a wood and leather steering wheel, wood trim, power foot pedals, a power rear sunblind, four-zone climate control and heated rear seats.
GranSport: the athlete within
Front and rear Sport seats in leather feature firmly sculpted for optimal body support during even the most spirited drive. The Sport steering wheel in leather is ergonomically designed to capitalise on the feeling of precise control and engagement. Long gearshift panels in lightweight, cool-touch aluminium create the same effect.
A high-gloss Piano Black wood trim on the dashboard and stainless steel Sport pedals complete an inspiring overall picture.
Features and Technology
Exclusivity is everything. Choice is fundamental. Never more so than when selecting a luxury sedan. Watch the video
The advanced design of the ZF eight-speed automatic transmission ensures precise gear changes and optimum performance, putting the power of the Quattroporte engines under your complete control.
Thanks to auto-adaptive software, the transmission modifies its shift patterns according to driving style.
The transmission sends power to the rear wheels of all Quattroporte models via a standard mechanical Limited Slip Differential (LSD). This ensures superb traction even in challenging situations.
For maximum driver involvement, there are five operating modes, selected using the buttons near the gear lever: Auto Normal, Auto Sport, Manual Normal, Manual Sport, and ICE (Increased Control & Efficiency) mode. Upshifts are all automatic unless a manual mode is selected.
A gripping experience
The Quattroporte S Q4, with its compact and lightweight intelligent all-wheel drive system, is the perfect choice for drivers seeking the rewards of rear-wheel drive with the back-up of four-by-four traction.
The Q4 all-wheel drive system continually analyses six parameters: driving style, steering angle, yaw angle, speed, wheel slip and power output. Drive torque from the 430 hp V6 petrol engine is then distributed to suit the situation.
A sophisticated algorithm also continuously monitors dynamic inputs such as wheel speed, steering and yaw angle and even wheel grip versus driving style.
Maserati touch control plus
The 8.4” Maserati Touch Control Plus (MTC+) unit takes pride of place at the centre of the Quattroporte dashboard. With very few buttons plus a highly responsive interface, it is designed to help the driver maintain focus on the road ahead and mastering it is intuitive and easy. MTC+ can be operated in three ways: via the multi-touchscreen, the rotary control in the central console, or through voice commands.
The state-of-the-art system also features both Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto® mirroring functions. In addition, for iPhone® users, Apple’s Siri® system acts as a personal assistant.
The Wi- Fi option is another welcome touch when you’re on the move in the Quattroporte. Simply place a SIM card into the WLAN - router to access internet signals inside the car.
Harman Kardon Premium Sound system: the core of the system is a state-of-the-art, 900- watt amplifier, delivering rich and detailed sound quality, whatever the source, be it radio, MP3 player, iPhone® or audio streaming device. No fewer than 12 independent channels are deployed, for superb balance within the car environment. Bowers & Wilkins Surround Sound system: fifteen speakers, with mid- range drivers and rear-woofers made from Kevlar®, have been strategically built into the car’s architecture, while a 1,280-watt amplifier ensures immersive sound for all on board.
Safety and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems
Discover how the Advanced Driver Assistance Systems work
Maserati made safety a top priority when designing the Quattroporte. The Maserati Stability Program (MSP) uses an array of sensors to constantly monitor driving status. It can then deploy a host of safety and performance systems to maintain handling and grip. MSP selectively reduces engine torque and can activate the brakes with finely varied inputs to restore stability within milliseconds.
Advanced Driver Assistance Systems
The Quattroporte can be equipped with an impressively comprehensive range of advanced driving assistance systems. It means even greater peace of mind, whether you’re on an exclusive grand tour or a dash through the city.
This combines the virtues of Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go and Lane Keeping Assist to make life even easier on motorways. Using information picked up from a digital camera mounted behind the rear-view mirror and a radar system in the front grille, HAS automatically keeps the vehicle centred in its lane, at a pre-selected speed and at a chosen distance from the vehicle ahead. It will even decelerate the Quattroporte through to a standstill as the traffic dictates. To ensure safety, HAS requires the driver to keep his or her hands on the steering wheel at all times.
Lane keeping assit
This provides valuable support if the car is about to unintentionally leave a lane. A digital camera behind the rear-view mirror continuously monitors road markings to keep track of the course ahead. The instrument panel display shows the specific status. White lines on either side of the vehicle image indicate that it is safely in lane. One yellow line indicates that the Quattroporte is moving off-centre, right or left. And one flashing yellow line warns of lane departure. At that point, when the Visual & Haptic box is selected in the touchscreen display, Lane Keeping Assist actively steps in with corrective steering torque. Activation of the turn indicator overrides the system.
Traffic Sign Recognition
It can be easy to miss traffic signs sometimes, for all sorts of reasons. This is where Traffic Sign Recognition comes in. It monitors three types of sign: speed limits, temporary speed limits due to conditions such as heavy rain, and no-overtaking zones. It then displays the signs digitally in the instrument panel’s cluster display. The system works with a digital camera mounted behind the rear-view mirror and data from the navigation system.
Adaptive Cruise Control with stop & go
Adaptive Cruise Control constantly monitors the vehicle ahead, maintaining a pre-set distance. With the Stop & Go function, the car will also adjust to the speed of the vehicle in front until it comes to a complete stop.
Forward Collision Warning Plus (FCW Plus)
This, in combination with Adaptive Cruise Control, monitors vehicles ahead and warns if the approach could result in a rear-end collision. This is linked to the Advanced Brake Assist system, which provides additional braking during an emergency stop. If the warning does not prompt any action from the driver, the Autonomous Emergency Braking system automatically applies the brakes to reduce the car’s speed.
Blind Spot Alert/Active Blind Spot Assist and Rear Cross Path function
The Blind Spot Alert continually assesses the space between the Quattroporte and nearby vehicles by scanning blind spots on either side of the vehicle with radar-based sensors. When a vehicle enters one of these areas, a warning triangle appears in the door mirrors to alert the driver of its presence. If the turning indicator is activated to change lane, a warning is sounded. Active Blind Spot Assist increases the level of protection. Along with a visual alert in the door mirrors and an acoustic warning, it also intervenes with steering torque if the driver starts to change lanes while a vehicle is in the blind spot. Rear Cross Path function is a welcome feature that emits a warning when an unseen vehicle is approaching, from the right or left, while reversing out of a parking space (available only in combination with Blind Spot Alert).
Maserati Genuine Accessories for the Quattroporte offer the perfect combination of exclusive design and exceptional functionality. The attention to detail, style and quality of each accessory reveal the very essence of the Maserati brand.
