In recognition of the 60th anniversary of Maserati’s Formula 1 World Championship triumph and the introduction of the groundbreaking 3500GT, Maserati has created
two sensational special edition cars whose every last detail expresses the myth that is the Marque of the Trident.
Here are examples of peerless luxury, unrestrained power and performance, craftsmanship, innovation and state-of-the-art technology: the GranTurismo Sport SE and GranCabrio Sport SE.
In true Maserati style, these two limited edition classics display unique design features that not only enhance their dramatic appearance but also add to their driving appeal. Meanwhile, they still
exhibit all the gorgeous lines that have made them icons of international design, and boast powerful engines worthy of the Maserati legend.
Parked by the roadside or flashing down the finishing straight, the GranTurismo
Sport Special Edition is a feast for the eyes, especially when presented in the
new, triple-coat Rosso Italiano paintwork that has been created to mark the 60th
anniversary of Maserati’s most glorious year. The bonnet is made entirely of carbon
fibre and features a front central air intake and twin rear air vents, which produce
additional downforce that enhances driving control at high speed.
Carbon fibre features prominently in other areas of the car’s body: the front splitter,
door handles, door mirror casings and rear lip spoiler. MC-design, glossy black 20”
alloy wheels give the car an ultra-aggressive look, with Special Edition logo hubcaps
as the finishing touch. Behind the wheels, the large brake callipers are clearly visible
in black (standard) or in optional red, titanium, polished aluminium or anodised
matt red. Completing the choice of colours are two more triple-coat exterior paints,
Bianco Birdcage and Grigio Lava, plus Nero, Bianco Eldorado, Nero Carbonio and
Inside the GranTurismo Sport SE, sophistication and refinement reign supreme, whilst
adding to the exclusivity of the car, there is a choice of four different configurations
of interior trim. The supremely comfortable sports seats with integral headrests
are upholstered in either Poltrona Frau® leather or a combination of leather and
Alcantara®, with coordinating stitching that emphasises the quality of workmanship
and exceptional attention to detail. Continuing the exterior carbon fibre theme,
the central console, gearshift paddles, instrument surround, door panel trim strips
and dash finish are all in sporty carbon fibre. There are then two more touches that
confirm the car’s individuality and distinction: the door sills are in carbon fibre and
feature the 1957-2017 Special Edition logo, as does a dedicated plate on the central
tunnel. Finally, the hard-wearing, luxury floor mats feature coloured piping that
matches the interior detailing of the car.
The GranCabrio Sport SE’s elegant profile bears the unmistakable signature of the
legendary design house of Pininfarina. With the top up, the impression is of intense
muscularity, whereas at the touch of a button, the car’s character is transformed:
the roof disappears and a gorgeous new shape reveals itself - all in just 28 seconds.
The SE features a carbon fibre bonnet with a large central air intake and two large
air vents that are modelled on those of the GranTurismo MC Trofeo racing car.
Lightweight carbon fibre is then found in other key areas: the front splitter, door
handles, door mirror casings and rear lip spoiler. MC-design, glossy black 20” alloy
wheels with Special Edition logo hubcaps are standard, as are the black brake
callipers. As an option, these can be specified in red, titanium, polished aluminium
or anodised matt red. The GranCabrio Sport SE is available in a brand new colour,
Rosso Italiano, which is applied in three layers. This joins two other triple-coat
paintwork options, Bianco Birdcage and Grigio Lava, and the existing colour range
that comprises Nero, Bianco Eldorado, Nero Carbonio and Grigio Granito.
The Maserati GranCabrio Sport SE’s unique spirit continues inside, with a skilfully
chosen blend of modernity, elegance, racing style and comfort, and a choice of four
different configurations of interior trim. A true four-seater, the GranCabrio Sport
SE allows all passengers to enjoy the pleasure of open-top motoring in luxurious
sports seats upholstered in either Poltrona Frau® leather or a combination of
leather and Alcantara®. The car’s racing heritage is accentuated with carbon fibre
interior detailing - the central console, gearshift paddles, instrument surround,
door panel trim strips and dash finish are all in carbon fibre. Highlighting its
individuality, rarity and sportiness, the door sills are also made from carbon fibre
and feature the 1957-2017 Special Edition logo, as does a dedicated plate on the
central tunnel. Attention to detail extends right down to the luxury floor mats,
which feature coloured piping that matches the interior detailing of the car.

The 4.7-litre V8 engine found in the GranTurismo Sport SE and GranCabrio Sport SE
is an industry benchmark for high performance: up to 460 HP at 7,000 rpm. Its
mechanical sophistication, which has always been a Maserati hallmark, is combined
with numerous innovative features. The camshafts on the intake side are fitted with
Continuously Variable Valve Timing, and the Diamond-Like Coating of the camshaft
lobes means extremely low friction levels.
High levels of torque are delivered right up through the rev range to guarantee
a smooth and responsive drive, with maximum torque peaking at 520 Nm. As a
result, the GranTurismo Sport SE with MC Shift transmission has a top speed of
186 mph and accelerates from 0–62 mph in 4.7 seconds - the GranCabrio Sport SE
being just a fraction slower. Whilst the GranCabrio Sport SE comes with automatic
transmission, the GranTurismo Sport SE is offered with either a robotic manual or
automatic gearbox. In the case of the latter, MC Auto Shift software is featured
with rev limiter override, double-declutch and high-performance start functions.
There are five operating modes: Auto Normal, Auto Sport, Manual Normal, Manual
Sport and ICE (Increased Control and Efficiency).
