Maserati at New York Auto Show

Exclusive interiors for the Ghibli and Quattroporte by Ermenegildo Zegna

After a milestone year where Maserati transformed its century-old brand, the company keeps a firm grip on its future, steering confidently into a period of innovation and expansion. Following the introduction of the Ghibli and Quattroporte sedans, the Trident has successfully penetrated an all-new segment while attracting a whole new customer base over just a brief period. With new design offerings, vehicle enhancements and an impressive product plan underway, Maserati is expected to enjoy sustained growth, while maintaining its iconic status.

As the brand enjoys new heights of modern day success, Maserati continues to innovate and further establish itself as a global luxury automotive player with an expanded product line on the horizon. In fact, the 2015 Ghibli was just named Most Popular on Edmunds.com awards. This growth is further underscored by the strengthening of its all-Italian partnership with one of world’s leading fashion designers and authority of ‘Made in Italy’ excellence, Ermenegildo Zegna, the maison of Trivero, Italy.

As a result of their shared passion for hand crafted quality, Maserati and Ermenegildo Zegna have partnered once again to create an all-new offering to Maserati’s scintillating product line: co-designed interior option packages available this fall for the 2016 model year. The inspiration behind these new option packages, the Maserati Ghibli Ermenegildo Zegna concept, will be on display at the New York International Auto Show April 3 -12, 2015.

The Maserati Ghibli Ermenegildo Zegna concept is the fruit of the design partnership between both Italian icons that are closely knit by their rich history, shared tradition of exclusivity, bespoke style and fine Italian quality. The design concept underscores select interior details that will be available for order by Maserati sedan customers.

The new Zegna inspired offering will allow customers to further customize the interiors of their Maserati Ghibli and/or Quattroporte sedans. The chic option packages feature three distinct color combinations offered in the finest Italian materials, never offered before. Typical of the high level of personalization offered with a Maserati, the Zegna touch brings an added sense of individuality for the discerning driver who is looking for ‘the absolute opposite of ordinary’. For both models, Ghibli and Quattroporte, the interior offering includes a choice of color combinations inclusive of the Ermenegildo Zegna silk in Anthracite color, which can be paired with three different shades of Poltrona Frau leather.

The three varied options include:

• Black Poltrona Frau Leather/ Anthracite Ermenegildo Zegna Silk / contrast grey stitching on seats, dashboard and door panel
• Natural Poltrona Frau Leather/ Anthracite Ermenegildo Zegna Silk / contrast grey stitching on seats, dashboard and door panel
• Red Poltrona Frau Leather/ Anthracite Ermenegildo Zegna Silk / contrast grey stitching on seats, dashboard and door panel

The brand has confirmed the production launch of the exclusive outfit for its Ghibli and Quattroporte, scheduled to arrive fall 2015 for MY 2016.

A substantial representation of the Brand’s range will also be on display at the Maserati stand with the flagship Quattroporte GTS super sports sedan, the Ghibli S Q4 all-wheel drive mid-size sport sedan and Centennial Edition GranTurismo MC and GranTurismo Convertible MC models, nicely highlighting the 2015 product variants.

As Maserati breaks new ground and continues to enter new segments with its future product line, it remains true to its core values of passion, quality, style and performance.

Ermenegildo Zegna INTERIORS FOR THE GHIBLI AND QUATTROPORTE

The interior is designed around the passenger compartment’s two-color, two-material concept, with Poltrona Frau leather combined with Ermenegildo Zegna 100% natural fibre mulberry silk inserts, giving it a distinctive and elegant personality.

Silk, an inherently sophisticated material, is further embellished by the hand-stitched macro-chevron; on the door panel, too, the matching salt and pepper silk jersey is enhanced by alternating rib embroidery.
As for the seating, the extra fine grain Poltrona Frau leather with contrasting, light grey stitching is matched to a central silk insert with a micro-chevron weave of vertical rolls on the central seat and backrest area, within which the central roll, with leather tapes on the sides, features a special macro-chevron weave adding to its three-dimensional feel and technical look.

On the door panels, the central part is covered with Zegna silk Jersey and embellished by a diagonal roll pattern, with ton-sur-ton ornamental stitching and alternating rib embroideries. The same fabric is used to cover the car's roof lining and sunshades, the latter carrying grosgrain “Ermenegildo Zegna Exclusively for Maserati” brand labels on the inside. The sophisticated, luxury finish of the car interior is also expressed by the headrests, featuring an embroidered Trident emblem and contrasting stitching.

Ghibli Ermenegildo Zegna Edition

Beginning with a new exterior color, Azzurro Astro, a sinuous and specially fashioned exclusively with Zegna, the concept is a scene stealer. This special trimmed Ghibli S Q4 enhances its character to create the ultimate contemporary look. The interior features Zegna-inspired materials and trims with special contrast color combinations of the finest Italian leather and 100% Italian natural fabrics. The result is a bold and contemporary product fashioned for the detail-oriented enthusiast and tailored for connoisseurs of luxury. It pays tribute to the harmony of opposites, a stylistic synthesis between sophisticated design and technological dynamism.

The new, exclusive exterior Azzurro Astro color (triple layer of pigment) volume, shine and iridescence to the finish, which is enhanced by iridescent highlights blue and ash grey. The aluminum pigments used for this special color magnify the vehicle’s exterior lines and bring out the muscular profile of its bodywork. The car's sculpted outline is enhanced by the color used, while the transparent top coat adds another layer of depth and high gloss shine. The exterior is further distinguished by 20” Urano design high-polished alloy wheels, with a distinctive color that was carefully conceived for this concept car named Liquid Metal. The futuristic wheel design emphasizes its sporty style, high tech appeal and luxury finishes.

The shared experience with the Quattroporte Zegna Limited Edition helped Ermenegildo Zegna create a pure silk fabric that combines its quintessential soft feel with an elegant yet technical look. The passenger compartment is dressed in leather tones and Zegna anthracite silk. The natural color leather of POLTRONA FRAU is matched with Ermenegildo Zegna's micro-chevron silk weave. Silk, an inherently sophisticated material, is further embellished by the hand-stitched macro-chevron pattern and finished off by the seat piping. The door panels also feature matching salt and pepper silk jersey and rib embroidery. The seat cushions feature extra fine grain, natural color leather with contrast light grey stitching, which matches a silk insert with a micro-chevron weave on the central seat and backrest area, also with a special macro-chevron weave.

On the door panels, the center panel is covered with Zegna silk Jersey and embellished with a diagonal roll pattern, quite unique for the interior of a vehicle. The same fabric is used to cover the car's roof lining, top pillars and sun shades, carrying “Ermenegildo Zegna Exclusively for Maserati” brand labels. Other sophisticated and beautifully appointed luxurious finishes include the signature Trident emblem with contrast stitching on the headrests. The sophisticated, luxury finish of the car interior is also expressed by the headrests, featuring an embroidered Trident emblem and contrasting stitching. Glossy and decorative carbon fiber inserts are applied to the massive central tunnel and door panels. Other added touches include black mat covers with special leather inserts with the Ghibli name embroidered. These are finished off by a natural color leather edge and fixed to the car floor with buttons machined from billet aluminum. The door sill plates are also crafted of billet aluminum and satin-finished with a glossy carbon fiber insert, marked by the Maserati trident logo. For the final touch, an Ermenegildo Zegna Edition plate is applied to the central pillar and tunnel between the two front seats.

GHIBLI RANGE

The Ghibli was just awarded the 2015 Most Popular on Edmunds.com. Award winners were finalized by identifying the three new models in each vehicle segment with the highest total car-shopper consideration from January 2014 through October 2014, dominating the number of unique visitors to the new car research and inventory pages on Edmunds.com’s desktop site for that model.

Ghibli is undeniably hot and powerful. Sensuous curved lines punctuated with an aggressive grill and bold triple vents perfectly illustrate the car’s unique marriage of elegance and sports car verve. The outline of the body gives the Ghibli a coupé-like appearance, and the grill takes its inspiration from the current GranTurismo but traces its origins back to the classic A6 GCS of the 1950s. The Ghibli has Maserati’s distinctive C-pillar, which delivers much of the car’s coupé-like stance and carries the classic trident logo, carrying on a tradition dating back to 1963.
From the onset, Maserati’s aim for the Ghibli was to produce a car that delivered the very highest levels of driving enjoyment on an everyday basis, irrespective of road conditions. The Ghibli S Q4 successfully achieves this, thanks to its Q4 all-wheel drive system to experience drive enjoyment in its purest form.

Alongside the Ghibli Ermenegildo Zegna Edition concept car on the stand is the popular all-wheel drive Ghibli S Q4, with 404 horsepower Twin Turbo V6 engine. Its architecture provides sports car performance, with a top speed of 175 mph and just 4.7 seconds from 0-60 mph, together with the versatility to deal with all kinds of road surfaces in all weather conditions. The Ghibli range is completed by the entry level version with 345 horsepower, V6 Twin Turbo engine with 8-speed automatic transmission.

QUATTROPORTE RANGE

The most powerful Maserati currently on the market will be present on the stand: the GTS version of the Quattroporte super sedan, driven by the massive 523 horsepower V8 Twin-Turbo engine with rear-wheel drive, capable of 524 lb-ft of torque and able to propel the car to 190 mph, surging from 0 to 60 mph in a mere 4.6 seconds. In terms of styling, as well as the GTS badge at the rear, the car’s exterior features a front spoiler, side miniskirts and the lower band of the rear bumper colored to match the body, while the radiator grille has a glossy black surround. The front trident emblem in the middle of the grille, as well as the iconic “Saetta” logo on the rear pillar, includes the red striping typical of higher-performance versions. The standard wheels are 20” in size and forged to ensure a significant weight reduction compared to the conventional flow forming construction; the wheels come in a technical design and anthracite grey color, with external diamond smoothing treatment and matt finish with color-matched hub covers and a red trident emblem - only available for this version. The slim line spokes allow a good view of the red, anodized brake callipers, indicative of the vehicle's high performance and only available for the GTS version. The standard interiors offer a plethora of fine-grain Poltrona Frau leather (with optional contrasting stitching) and Black Piano lacquered trim: more interior details are a compact GTS badge added to the inside of the dashboard central clock with red pointers, and the floor mat on the driver's side with a leather insert and embroidered GTS logo.

Accompanying the immensely powerful Quattroporte GTS, is the Quattroporte S Q4, which is powered by the 404 horsepower Twin Turbo V6 engine and equipped with the 8-speed automatic transmission; top speeds at 176 mph with 0-60 mph in 4.8 seconds.

CENTENNIAL EDITION GRANTURISMO MC & CONVERTIBLE

The emblem of the sports car range comprising the GranTurismo and GranTurismo Convertible is the Centennial Edition of the GranTurismo MC. The Centennial Edition, created to celebrate the Maserati Centennial, is a version available on both the GranTurismo MC and GranTurismo Convertible MC, both displayed.

The Centennial Edition features three tri-coated colors, special 20” wheels and hub covers that incorporate the Centennial medallion logo. The leather upholstered seats boast a particularly aggressive look with a contrasting decorative insert based on the three colors (red, white and blue) of the seat profiles. The same motif also extends to the headrests and surrounds the embroidered Trident logo.

The engine is the 4.7 litre, boasting 454 horsepower. Equipped with a naturally aspirated V8 rear-wheel drive and gearbox coupled with the differential, enabling the car to spring from 0-60 mph in just 4.7 seconds. The GT reaches a top speed of 185 mph, with Brembo ceramic brakes.

Apart from the Centennial Edition, Maserati’s sports car range includes the GranTurismo Sport, powered by the same 4.7 litre 454 horsepower naturally aspirated V8 engine as the MC, available with MC Auto-Shift automatic transmission, all with rear-wheel drive. The convertible range is completed by 454 horsepower GranTurismo Convertible Sport, both with 6 speed automatic transmission.
