Kubang Concept Car

Centro Stile Maserati

Maserati presented an unexpected prototype at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show with at least three ambitious aims, indicated by its very name: Kubang.

Kubang, the very same name as the 2003 prototype, drawing attention to the fact that Maserati had been the first to propose the concept of the sporting crossover. Only the failure to reach an agreement that had seemed close and the destination of resources to other projects had prevented it from being realised and it was then taken up with great success by other manufacturers.
The second aim was that of declaring that the car was once again on the agenda thanks to the expansion of the parent company and the consequent availability of adequate resources and technology.
The third, more specifically stylistic aim, was that of anticipating the direction that the saloons that would hit the market first would be taking: the Quattroporte and the Ghibli.

The Kubang in the best traditions of the Fiat Group, is a realistic, feasible vehicle, which uses existing components and which could be put into production without significant modifications.
The renderings reveal references to the Quattroporte (the crease line on the flanks, the side windows) and the Ghibli (the front lights, the general layout of the rear end, the dashboard), which have been combined to give a precise idea of the styling idiom of the forthcoming saloons.
