The elegance of a sedan
Defining a Maserati sedan
Though there’s still much lively debate when it comes to defining what a “sedan” is, the current definition implies some essential characteristics.
A sedan, also known as “saloon”, is a closed-roof passenger car, designed in a three-box configuration, these three distinct compartments are called engine, passenger and cargo respectively. This car has three fixed pillars, simply identified as A, B, and C, pillar B is located between the front and rear windows and is considered a typical feature of this car type.
Maserati created the concept of a four-door full-size luxury sedan with a real Gran Turismo soul in it but the concept and designs of Maserati sedans kept on evolving.
Today Maserati interprets the concept of sedan in a way that’s even closer to sportiness and elegance, with two incredible models: the Quattroporte and the Ghibli.
Maserati sedans through history
A grand-scale icon
The Quattroporte V sold a record number of 25200 cars and won no fewer than 57 international awards, so designing its heir was an incredibly delicate task. The sixth generation of the Quattroporte started from another blank page, being the first model to be officially designed by a Maserati-only team. The Quattroporte maintains an unmistakable, timeless silhouette and combines the luxurious soul of a limousine and the spirit of a grand-touring car.
Dynamism and harmony
The Quattroporte offers the perfect balance between sportiness and elegance, dynamism and harmony. Scale and space are well represented by the dimensions increased to 5260 mm; nevertheless, weight was reduced by 100 kg as a result of the extensive use of aluminium on the monocoque. The Quattroporte offers race-bred V8 and V6 Twin-Turbo engines that have the highest power output of all Turbo engines in their class, along with a mighty V6 Turbodiesel. Transmission is an 8-speed automatic ZF gearbox and 4-wheel drive is available for the first time.
A clear focus on luxury and comfort is evident from its meticulously crafted details, its technological convenience and its peerless Italian style. The front seats feature a 12-way power adjustment, a memory function to reconfigure customised driver’s settings along with an advanced 8.4” infotainment system. In the rear, the Quattroporte is appointed with 60:40 split-folding rear seats, a central armrest offering storage, a USB point and a 12V socket. Its latest enhancements include an ergonomic two-lane gear lever and the option of hand-stitched premium Italian Pieno Fiore natural leather.

The fastest, the finest. The powerful icon that is the Quattroporte takes luxury grand touring to unprecedented levels of performance. For those who belong in the fast lane of exclusivity.
The absolute opposite of ordinary
Four months after the presentation of the Quattroporte VI at the Detroit Motor Show, a new car makes its debut at the Shanghai Motor Show at the end of April, bearing the evocative name of a 1967 classic model. The new Ghibli tells a whole new story by introducing the values of the Quattroporte in another market segment: a saloon with dimensions, a power unit and price that made it achieve massive popularity as well as the highest-ever sales volume – the prefect celebration in its centenary year.
Graceful and sporty
Dynamically sculpted curves and gracefully flowing lines make the Ghibli a graceful, four-door coupé-design car with a strong sporting character. Inspired by the legendary A6 GCS Berlinetta of the 1950s, the radiator grill bearing the Trident takes on a trapezoidal profile and the headlights connect it to the arched section. At the rear, quad chrome exhaust tailpipes inscribed with ‘Maserati’ and ‘Ghibli’ and a high and short tail enhance its aggressive profile. The Ghibli is available with a range of V6 engines, all turbocharged and with direct fuel injection, and with a completely new diesel engine, essential for any model of this segment.
An invitation to travel
In line with a true Maserati grand touring tradition, the cabin is a clear invitation to travel, being characterised by its elegant Italian style, its hand-crafted finish and its well-thought-out, and generously proportioned design. All seats are clad in meticulously selected and hand-stitched premium leather, while the front headrests are embossed with the Trident logo. Fresh enhancements include immaculately soft Pieno Fiore natural leather along with new interior trims.
