Maserati on pole for the Qualifying Race

On the front row, ahead of everybody else in the fourth round of the GT1 World Championship, will be Bartels/Bertolini's No.1 Maserati MC12.

Andrea Bertolini (2:03.511) set the Maserati's top time as Q3 came to a close. The performance bettered the effort by Kox's No.24 Lamborghini (2:04.028) that had been leading the eight cars left in qualifying.

The Vitaphone Racing Team improved as the session unfolded. Andrea placed fourth in Q1 and Bartels second in Q2 before pole was secured.

The other Maserati MC12s got through the first fifteen minute qualifying session but not the second: Margaritis/Heger (Triple H Team Hegersport) will start from ninth, Bernoldi/Ramos (Vitaphone Racing Team) from tenth and Bobbi/Longin (Triple H Team Hegersport) are in twelfth.

A minute's silence was observed at the 13.00 start to the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Toreo in recognition of Nicolas G Hayek, from Watch Group, who passed away recently.
