Front row in Spain for Pier Guidi/Verdonck's Maserati MC12

The No.34 Maserati MC12 driven by Pier Guidi/Verdonck will start from the front row in tomorrow's Qualifying Race.

This weekend the eighth round of the FIA GT1 World Championship will be held at Navarra. The second best time (1:36.329) was set by the Italian driver, bettered only in Q3 by the Lamborghini driven by Riccardo Zonta (1:36.118).

The other Maseratis competing on this new Spanish circuit - inaugurated on 19 June - made it through to Q2. However, they didn't qualify for the final phase where the top eight battle it out for the top places in the Qualifying Race.

Bernoldi/Ramos' No.2 car, fielded by Vitaphone Racing Team, will start from ninth with the Portuguese driver missing out on Q3 by just a few seconds after being slowed on his fast lap by another car. Behind them came the No. 33 Maserati MC12 with Mueller/Longin on board. Overall leaders Bartels/Bertolini will start from thirteenth spot after being caught in traffic and conditioned by having 50kg of ballast on board after a series of good results.

Another fine finish for Maserati came in Dubai in the Maserati GranTurismo MC Trofeo where the Robert Creegan took the win in the C Class in the first round of the UAE GT series.
