After registration and once the event schedules had been handed out, we left the hotel to enjoy our parade and Concours D’Elegance. We had our Concours at Tokyo Tower, one of the city’s most famous landmarks. The occasion saw the finest Maserati V8s, V6s and straight-sixes displayed and run. Top honour for Best in Show (Grand Prix) went to Mitsuhiro Beniko, from Tokyo, for his beautiful and well turned-out Mistral.
We returned to the hotel in late afternoon and then prepared for a special dinner party. During the meal, Adolfo Orsi, from Modena and the person who invited our club to the event, gave a speech about the current status of vintage Maseratis, the state of the market and about car restoration in general.
We all enjoyed the good food and fine wine, followed by a slice of Trident cake. What made the evening even better was the pleasant conversation with acquaintances old and new. After dinner, club members got together for a relaxing evening of Italian wine and cheese.
The next day we enjoyed a nice lunch and there was more time for socialising. Mr Ekko, chairperson of MCJ, then brought the curtain down on the event by thanking the sponsors who made it possible for the Maserati Day to be held.
Everyone who took part really enjoyed it and will have lots of unforgettable memories of the event!
