Currently topping the rankings, the reigning champions - the Bertolini/Bartels duo - and the Hezemans/Kumpen twosome, currently four points away from the leaders, are vying for the title.
After the fifth place won at Paul Ricard, the Italian-German pair is counting on writing their own names in this championship's honor's list for the third time. The Team title, on the other hand, has already been assigned. Vitaphone Racing has earned it for the fifth consecutive time, raising the number of tiles won by the Maserati MC12 since 2005 to 2009 to eleven.
There will once again be three Maseratis racing in this round, driven, as usual, by Müller/Ramos (MC12 n° 2) and Pier Guidi/Bobbi (MC12 n° 33). They are aiming for a prestigious result after their good performance at the last races.
Technically, the Modenese car's characteristics adapt better to the Belgian racetrack's features with respect to the Paul Ricard track. Past results at the Zolder track are encouraging: in 2008, Bertolini/Bartels won thanks to an original racing strategy and a lightning-speed driver change, while Bartels/Biagi's third place earned the Italian the driver's title in 2007.
Activities at the track will start on Saturday with the free practices, the prequalifying practices and the qualifying session (5:35 pm). The race itself will start on Sunday at 1:15 pm local time and will last two hours.
