In an exhibition space of over 500 square metres, the visitors headed straight for a close up look at the splendid GranTurismo and three versions of the Quattroporte. Two of these were Automatics (a Sport GT S and an Executive GT) and one boasted a DuoSelect transmission.
The MC12 also contributed to making the MotorShow a success for Maserati. As well as the GT1 version fielded by Vitaphone Racing Team, which appeared on the stand, the MC12 starred on the circuit in Area 48 where the Modenese company put on a spectacular show to round off its amazing sporting season.
On Friday 7 December, Andrea Bertolini, the winner of the 2006 Drivers' title, thrilled the public with a spectacular demonstration of his MC12 Versione Corse, a car that derives from the competition model. On Saturday, Bertolini teamed up with newly crowned champion, Thomas Biagi, also in an MC12, for a series of exhibition laps and a display of wheel spinning antics that received a riotous reception from the crowd.
The two drivers threw freebies and gadgets into the stands as the fans gave them a standing ovation.
