Classic Maseratis go under the hammer at Bonham's anniversary sale
A rare 4CM from 1937 will be one of the stars at the auction to mark Bonham's tenth anniversary.

Extraordinary Maseratis from a bygone era will be displayed at The Palace Hotel in Gstaad, Switzerland, on the mornings of 18th and 19th December.

The auction is an event not to be missed for all true Maserati enthusiasts. They will be able to admire a Mistral 3.7 spyder from '69 that used to belong to a company collection, a Ghibli SS Coupé from '71, and a 1962 3500 GT that had a total engine rebuild in 1998. The car now features a five-speed gearbox, front disc brakes and Borrani spoked wheels.

The auction will be held on Wednesday afternoon and will see authentic pieces of Maserati history on offer. One example is the Type 151 from 1962, a racing car of which only three examples were ever produced. Another star lot is the 4CM from 1937, a vehicle bought by Count Giovanni Lurani Cernuschi that comes with spare parts that can up its output to 1500cc when needed.

'Johnny' Lurani won the 1937 Italian 1100 class championship in this car. He continued using it until June 1938 when he was involved in a accident at Crystal Palace. The South African, Chiappino and the Englishman, Dodson were next to drive the car on the track, in 1939. The Type 4CM resurfaced in France after the war and was only completely restored in the 1960s.
