The twelve prize categories will be published in full in the January issue of Top Gear magazine. The awards will be presented on television during the Top Gear programme to be screened on BBC2 on 12 December at 8pm.
Each year, the Top Gear team of journalists test drive over three hundred new cars for thousands of miles on roads and circuits all over the world. Only then do they assign prizes to those cars that have truly made a mark on the automobile world.
Top Gear director, Michael Harvey, stated, "These awards come from the heart, not the test track. We don't claim absolute objectivity, but who is truly objective when most of us, when buying a car, say its looks rank first or second when it comes to choosing. We do however claim to know what we're talking about and this latest list of inductees to our hall of fame are cars that offer a certain unsolicited sparkle in their intention or in their execution. And usually both. They're great cars, but they're all pretty cool with it".
Massimo Fedeli, CEO of Ferrari Maserati UK, commented, "It's been a very busy year for us, with the launch of four new models and the set up of factory-owned subsidiaries to cover our main markets. We are very pleased that our efforts have scored great success with members of the public and the media alike, especially here in the UK, a country renowned for its passion for cars and motor racing. Winning these top honours is a fitting start to the new Maserati UK business".
