The car will begin its on-track development programme in 2003.
Next year will also see the debut of the Maserati Trofeo Europa, a one-make championship open to owners and enthusiasts of the Trident marque. The car used will be a sports version of the Maserati Coupe, known as the Trofeo.

The championship will be run over seven events, which will be held in five countries: Italy, Great Britain, Germany, France and Spain.
