Maserati in Times Square
A major new billboard announcing Maserati's return to the American market was erected at 1500 Broadway, Times Square, in New York on November 10 2001 and will remain there until the end of March 2002.

The 14 x 14 metre billboard is positioned at a height of 20 metres off the ground and is illuminated from sunset until 2.00 a.m. each day.

Times Square, in fact, is where New Yorkers traditionally welcome in the New Year. Around 1.5 million people pass through the Square every day, and thus in front of the Maserati logo and the new Spyder, every day. The Maserati billboard is competing for their attention with an advertisement for the year's trendiest musical, The Producer, staged just around the corner at the St. James Theatre. New York city mayor Rudi Giuliani, has declared his intention to welcome Maserati back to the US by visiting the billboard in person, something he is expected to do at the beginning of the new year.

Maserati makes its official return to the North American market at the Detroit Motor Show (January 6 to 21 2002), where both the Spyder and Coupé will be unveiled along with an extensive sales and services network developed over two years by our American importer. The United States will be the Trident marque's largest market, accounting for about 40% of total Spyder and Coupé output. Maserati's return to the US is much awaited as it is the only Italian car constructor to have won the Indianapolis 500, and many historic Maseratis are also owned by American collectors.

There have already been several signs that bode well for the future. In fact, the first Maserati to be delivered to the US was bought by an American businessman of Italian origin, Mr. Giuseppe Conforti, at a charity auction. He paid $130,000 dollars for it which is much more than the actual price on the American market. Another Spyder was also the guest of honour at America's biggest get together for cigar smokers, the Big Smoke, organised by Cigar Aficionado magazine. The Maserati Spyder was also admired by members of the New York Police and Fire Departments, the heroes of September 11, who were treated to a special preview, also attended by Mayor Giuliani.
