A fuel-efficient, state-of-the-art engine for a powerful driving experience
The Ghibli S Q4 is powered by the same engine as the rear-wheel drive Ghibli S: an efficient 3 litre Twin Turbo V6 that delivers a peak of 410 horsepower (302 kW) at 5,500 rpm and is credited with a maximum torque, in Sport mode, of 550 Nm at just 1,750 rpm. The amazing specific torque value of 183 Nm per litre ensures an aggressive response that will deliver pure excitement with every movement of the right foot.
An extremely efficient engine, for daily driving pleasure
A wealth of innovative solutions make the Ghibli S Q4’s V6 an extremely fuel-efficient engine: the use of two parallel-mounted low-inertia turbines helps to prevent turbo lag, giving swifter response to every touch on the accelerator and elasticity in all driving conditions. A forthright character, reinforced by the use of double continuous cam phasers on both cylinder heads.
The Q4 intelligent AWD combines safety with maximum driving pleasure
The Ghibli S Q4 is equipped with an innovative “on demand” all-wheel drive system capable of combining the utmost driving pleasure with absolute safety on all road surfaces. Normally, it is up to the rear-wheel drive system to transfer the power of the V6 to the terrain, but if the road surface turns slippery or the wheels lose grip, the system instantaneously (in just 150 milliseconds) transfers the necessary drive force to the front wheels.
The lightweight, powerful Brembo brakes have dual-cast discs
The Ghibli S Q4’s’s powerful Brembo brakes have dual-cast discs, which combine the properties of cast iron with the light weight of aluminium, helping to reduce the unsprung mass. Braking power is provided by efficient monobloc calipers, with 6 pistons at the front and 4 at the rear, acting on ventilated, slotted discs of 360 mm x 32 mm and 350 mm x 28 mm respectively.
GT handling thanks to sophisticated suspensions and auto-adaptive transmission
In terms of handling, the adoption of front double wishbone and rear five-arm multilink suspension combines comfort with sporty handling, while the new eight speed ZF automatic transmission is controlled by auto-adaptive software able to switch from the smooth gear shifts of Auto Normal mode to the Manual Sport mode, which gives the driver full control over all gear changes.
Torque is distributed by a compact, lightweight, quiet system
On the Ghibli S Q4, drive torque distribution is electronically controlled by a special algorithm that processes a large number of the car’s dynamic parameters. In mechanical terms the system transfers the drive torque to the front wheels by means of electronically controlled wet multiple plate clutches: a compact, lightweight and quiet solution.
