Maserati safety

Maserati and safety

Today’s Maseratis are developed to offer the highest safety standards

Safety is one of the fundamental principles on which any Maserati project is based. Every Maserati is equipped with the best active safety technology and fitted with the most advanced passive safety features.

Maserati chassis are rigid and designed with crumple zones. They ensure precise handling which means that anyone who gets behind the wheel will always feel confident. Maseratis are stable and have excellent weight distribution.

All Maseratis have a number of safety features as standard, including a collapsible steering column, front and rear seat belts equipped with pre-tensioners and load limiters, two front airbags, two sidebags integrated into the front seats and two window bags in the doors to provide protection from side impacts.

In terms of active safety, Maserati’s philosophy is aimed at offering the driver complete command of the car, by making a superior electrical kit available. The Maserati Stability Programme (MSP) kicks in to correct even the slightest hint of a skid by reducing torque. Working with the ABS and EBD, the system stops the wheels locking under braking, distributes the braking force between the front and rear axles and prevents the wheels spinning on low grip surfaces.

The first rate safety features offered by Maserati can be further enhanced by adding optional extras for example xenon headlights, parking sensors, the Skyhook electrically controlled suspension and the Tyre Pressure Monitoring System. This constantly monitors the tyre pressure, even when the car is moving, and warns the driver if the pressure drops below a safe level or when there is a puncture.

The performance of the engines and the suspension fitted to Maseratis allows the driver to carry out sudden manoeuvres in total safety and therefore avoid potentially dangerous situations.
