Renaud Kuppens comes away from Paul Ricard unsure of how things stand: is his glass half empty or half full? In the European stages, things look bright as he has just pocketed the continental title but, looking at the overall picture, Kuppens can’t not be worried as the chasing pack has closed the gap. Fascicolo/Sernagiotto are just seven points off the pace, Simoni/Ragazzi ten and Andrea Dromedari twenty. Things will become clearer at the next round, in the United States in September. However, for now at least, the glass is half full. Maybe Kuppens will be reaching for the champagne to celebrate.

Kuppens, European champion with world title ambitions
Perhaps after taking second spot in Race 1, Kuppens never imagined having to wait right until the end of Race 2 before celebrating.
