Race 1 press conference - Trofeo

02/10/2011 - Mugello
Alessandro Pier Guidi (1st overall): “It was a lively start and things got even more interesting after the obligatory pit stops. In truth, with all the cars from other categories on the track, I couldn’t really work out my position. Even so, I gave everything and it turned out well”.

Gaetano Ardagna (4th overall, 1st Trofeo): “The false start was useful as it gave me a chance to plan for this type of race, where there are also GT Cup cars on the grid. Unfortunately, my crash at Vallelunga put paid to any chance of me fighting for the title here at Mugello with Baldi. I like this circuit and felt at home in the car. I hope things go just as well in Race 2”.

Nicolò Piancastelli (5th overall, 2nd Trofeo): “I was a bit disappointed with only taking fourth in yesterday’s qualifying but I did have a problem with my brakes. Things got a bit tricky at turn one and then I got involved in an interesting fight with Sbirrazzuoli, Baldi and Villa. I had a great duel with Villa but this meant that the leaders pulled away. Still, I am pleased with the result and hope to have more fun in Race 2”.

David Villa (6th overall, 3rd Trofeo): “The first three or four laps were exciting with all the cars bunched together. I was in a group with Baldi, Sbirrazzuoli and Piancastelli. Then, I think Baldi had trouble with his brakes, I got past Cedric and set off after Piancastelli but he did well to defend his position. At the pit stop I let a Lamborghini through but maybe lifted off too much and Nicolò overtook me. Then, the safety car came on and I focused on keeping my position”.
