The most memorable image, one that best illustrates the true nature of the Trofeo Maserati, was the press room, post race. There, in front of the journalists' notepads and the cameramen, the three stars of this Trofeo, Ardagna, Baldi and Piancastelli, showed their sportsmanship as they warmly congratulated each other. The press conference again showed how the series is founded on the respect between drivers and among everyone else involved. The championship sees gentleman drivers take each other on on the track and the press conference was a great way to end an enjoyable weekend without the added stress of thinking about the titles (assigned at Vallelunga).
The weekend saw wins go to Alessandro Pier Guidi and Andrea Bertolini. Bertolini came third overall in Race 2, an event run at the same time as the Italian GT cup race. The Mugello weekend brings the curtain down on the 2011 Trofeo season. It has been one that has provided gripping races, seen new drivers emerge and been very exciting.
The series is the product of all the hard work put in not only by the drivers but the mechanics and technicians that have looked after the cars impeccably. Thanks should also go to the Maserati Corse staff who have ensured that the weekends run smoothly. It is not all about racing. What counts is the friendly and respectful atmosphere where everyone shares the same passion: cars. It is even better if these cars feature a Trident in the centre of the grille.
