Petrini improving all the time

18/07/2010 - Brands Hatch
As in the two previous rounds, Marco Petrini managed to get into the groove for the Sunday race.

This is thanks to his feeling more at ease in the Maserati GranTurismo MC he shares with Enrico Moncada. Sixth place in Race 1 for the Piedmont driver is proof of his fine form. It was a result that, to tell the truth, he almost lost in the final few metres when Paolo Necchi overtook him at Clark Curve. But Petrini doesn't give in easily and he battled back to finish just 31 thousandths ahead of the Motormedia director.

"I am pleased because I improved lots in the race, something that has also happened in previous rounds. I feel more at home in the car with each lap that passes. I had to hold off Necchi at the start before settling into a steady pace. I didn't want to push too hard so that the tyres would be in good shape at the end. Towards the halfway stage I picked up the pace but then had a little oil leak from the differential. This shelved any plans I may have had to attack Ardagna Perez for fifth place".

Petrini pocketed crucial Drivers' championship points today. But it is a table which, for him, should have a different look: "it is a shame that drivers who finished ahead of me, but compete only in this race, take away championship points from me and the other drivers who race for the entire season".
