Determination was the key to Andrea Bertolini and Michael Bartels’ victory in the Maserati MC12 at Zolder. The team worked through Saturday night to repair the car damaged after going off the track when the accelerator locked. Thanks to the team’s efforts, Bertolini and Bartels were able to line up for the race.
A perfect drive saw them defend their overall advantage, giving the Teams’ title to Vitaphone Racing and the Constructors’ crown to Maserati. Second went to the Maserati crew’s rivals, Hezemans and Gollin; a placing that means the destination of the title will be decided at the last round in San Luis.
Still, Maserati’s German pairing can be optimistic as they hold an eight point lead and only ten will be on offer.
