Istanbul circuit

Designed by the architect Tilke, the Istanbul circuit is situated in the more Asian part of Turkey. It is found along the motorway that links Istanbul with Ankara.

The track is 5,333 metres in length and is run anti-clockwise. There are fourteen curves: eight left and six right. The main straight is 720 metres long, meaning that the cars can reach speeds of more than 300 km/h.

The circuit can be divided into two sections: the first is mixed and demanding. It is a windy stretch and there is little chance to overtake. The second part of the track is much faster and includes two straights connected by a tricky right hand bend. The chicane that concludes this part leads into the start-finish straight.

This offers the drivers a good opportunity to overtake. There is seating capacity for 130,000 in the stands.
