Cedric Sbirrazzouli takes pole position in inaugural Maserati Trofeo JBF RAK race

After posting the fastest time in the first free practice session on Friday, Cedric Sbirrazzouli also topped the timesheet in the opening round of qualifying. His time of 1: 09.475 around the 2.55km was just 0.076secs ahead of Joe Ghanem who posted a strong qualifying time of 1:09.551 to secure the second spot on the front row.

Italian Patrick Zamparini was nipping at Joe's heels, posting a time of 1:09.935 in his first ever weekend at the Bahrain International Circuit. Someone with a lot more experience of the Inner Circuit is the CEO of Bahrain International Circuit - Sheikh Salman bin Isa Al Khalifa - was has stepped back behind the wheel of a race car after a long break and scored a strong 1:10.090 time.
