Maserati And Giovanni Soldini still in New York: unstable weather conditions on North Atlantic
The final decision was taken in the course of the morning: Maserati will not now be casting off on Monday, July 7th in an attempt to break the New York-Lizard Point (UK) Record.
The weather in the North Atlantic is not, unfortunately, stable enough with possible light winds around the finish in England.
Giovanni explained: “The start conditions look good for Monday as is the passage to Newfoundland. However, over the next week, there is a high risk of very light winds in the easterly part of the course with still very open angles. After hours of analysis and meetings, we decided to wait for a better opportunity. The risk of ruining everything in the last 500 miles is just too high.”
